I find the treated guide bar useful. The wear resistance of the bar is in a class of its own. In practice, it would probably be possible to run with a single bar for at least half a year, perhaps even a full year. The bars I have test-driven have also been put into use at the same time as the new machine’s chain lubrication, which likely also helps especially with the durability of the bar’s nose sprocket. The treatment itself reduces the removal of “pärme” by an estimated 70–80%, which is directly related to bar wear. The test has now been running for 1.5 years and I intend to continue it, as well as expand it to the company’s other machines. This way, experience will also be gained on the service life of the oil-lubricated bar and its nose sprocket.

Forest Coat coating.
Reduced cutting time for the harvester bar.
- Extends service life – Protects the bar from wear and corrosion, which reduces maintenance needs and extends the bar’s lifespan.
- Reduces resin and dirt build-up – Prevents tree resin and other impurities from sticking to the bar, keeping it operational for longer.
- Improves lubrication – The coating helps oil distribute more evenly, which reduces bar heating and further extends its service life.
- Reduces friction – The coating lowers friction between the saw chain and the bar, which reduces energy consumption and improves cutting performance.
